Shahid Khan is an acclaimed digital thought leader, entrepreneur and executive with a tremendous twenty-year track-record and hands-on operational experience. He is a former executive at leading management consulting firms, who has managed and grown P&Ls and has led large sales and execution teams. Over the years, Shahid has played a key role behind the digital transformation of his clients in Media, Cable and Retail segments and has helped launch a number of new products, services and capabilities for them. Shahid is also a proven entrepreneur known for ideating, building and scaling successful businesses, including two of his award-winning companies.
Shahid is the Managing Partner for MAG (Meridian Advisory Group, LLC), a premier boutique management consulting firm that focuses on the entire Digital Content Ecosystem, from Media firms to Device firms to Cable MSOs and Telcos. At MAG, Shahid leads strategy, vision and sales, while managing major client relationships and strategy engagements. In addition, Shahid leverages his expertise in the industry, as well as his relationships across the industry ecosystem players to incubate and invest in new ventures. As a sought-after management consultant with a strategic mindset and deep technology underpinnings, Shahid has worked with senior management at leading Cable, Media, Entertainment and Technology companies such as: Liberty Global, Comcast, Cablevision, Time Warner Cable, Sony, Scripps, Showtime, Disney/ABC, Univision, A&E, Barnes & Noble, Scholastic, Hearst, Conde Nast, Motorola, Rovi, Vonage, etc. With these clients, he has worked on several strategic initiatives focusing on: Strategy Development; Launch of new products, services and capabilities, such as: Linear and OTT TV Networks, Millennial-oriented Offerings, Digital Education Platforms, Advanced Advertising and Data Products, Digital Content Supply Chain, Mobile/WiFi Services; Organizational, Operational and Technology Transformation; and Mergers and Acquisitions. MAG was selected by Consulting Magazine as one of its “Seven Small Jewels” for 2014, an annual award given to small, high-growth consulting and advisory firms.
Shahid is also the Founder and Vice-Chairman of Mediamorph, the leading global provider of Cloud-based Applications and Data Management platform to manage the digital supply chain that bridges Studios, TV Networks and Operators. Since Mediamorph’s inception in 2010 until 2017, Shahid served as Chairman of the Board. In addition, from 2010 until 2014, Shahid played the role of Chief Strategist, scaling the company to a global player with offices in NY, LA and London. In 2014, Shahid recruited a veteran management team (CEO, CFO and CTO) to scale the company to the next level. Shahid also led the fund-raising through three rounds of funding, totaling $42M, from strategic Investors include Liberty Global, Google (formerly, Motorola), Lee Equity, Advance/Newhouse and Smedvig Capital. Today, Mediamorph has 95+ employees in NY, LA and London and it has become the premier platform for content providers and content distributors for managing their content deals, rights, data and analytics. It is actively used by all major studios, nearly all US TV Networks and many of the largest cable, telco and satellite operators in the world — key customers include Liberty Global, Comcast, Dish, Cablevision, Mediacom, CenturyLink, NBCU, HBO, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures, Starz, Warner Bros, AMC, BBC Worldwide, Epix, Vevo and many others. Mediamorph, recently won the prestigious Cablefax Tech Award in 2016 for technology innovation and was named on Deloitte’s Fast 500 list.
Prior to embarking upon his entrepreneurship forays, Shahid played senior executive roles at leading consulting firms. He has served as Senior Partner, Head of Media Industry at IBB Consulting, a leading consulting firm serving Cable, Mobile and Media companies; Managing Director and Head of Entertainment and Information Services industry practices at KPMG Consulting/BearingPoint; Partner at IBM Global Services in Communication Industry; and Partner and Head of Media industry practice at ZEFER.
Shahid holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance from NYU’s Stern School of Business, and is a Fellow at U. Penn’s Wharton School of Business. Shahid is a member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), the world’s premier peer network of chief executives and business leaders. He was named as one of the “50 Outstanding Asian Americans in Business” by the Asian American Business Development Center in the US, and as one of the 50 most influential people in the US online video industry by VOD Professional. As an expert in Media, Shahid frequently appears on TV interviews with CNBC and Bloomberg TV; is often quoted in leading publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, the New York Times, etc.; and is a frequent speaker at leading industry conferences, including CES, Media Summit, Rutberg, Monaco Media Forum, Abu Dhabi Media Summit, etc. Shahid is an active investor and advisor to Silicon Valley start-ups in the Digital and Technology arena. He serves on the Advisory Boards of FanKave and Secret Builders. He also serves on the Boards of two non-profit organizations, OPEN and Developments in Literacy.
